North Rocks Public School
The brief for this project proposed creating a dialogue between the old and the new buildings, the school’s educational principles, and the functional design brief guided the design, and identified key learning objectives. The siting, context, location, orientation, building materials and scale were considered throughout all stages of the design process to enhance the natural landscape on the site. The building works have been designed with the concepts of durability, resilience and adaptability in mind, particularly when considering the long-term use of the school environment. Spaces support the health and safety of all users to ensure that everyone can enjoy the new facilities. The building provides flexible options for the size and layout of the space, with classrooms clustered around creative and practical areas, so supporting collaborative learning, individual learning and combined year group activities.
